Our Mission is to Improve Profitable Farming While Protecting Our Local Ecosystem
What We Provide Farmers and the Community
*All resources are dependent on available funding.
-
Engaging
Engaging local farmers through events and communications that strengthen farmer-to-farmer connections and provide support to those transitioning from traditional to regenerative farming practices.*
Engaging the community on the benefits of locally and sustainably grown food through events, media and the Kenosha Regenerative Producers Group blog.*
-
Educating
Educating farmers and the local community on how regenerative agriculture protects the environment by reducing the “hidden costs” of farming that the community eventually pays for. Hidden costs include pollution and its impacts on local water, air, soil, and community health.
Educating farmers through field days, qualified guest speakers, regenerative certifications and a resource center with subject matter experts.*
-
Producing
Producing quality food while positively impacting local environments through the practice of cover cropping and perennial grass farming.
Assisting farmers in production through financial and technical assistance.*
Future funding is being sought for cover crop consulting and the development of an equipment rental program.*
-
Focusing
Focusing efforts to improve the local food production market rather than the international export market or ethanol production.
Focusing on minimizing the environmental impacts of agriculture on the Kenosha County and Fox River watersheds.
Future funding is being sought for a local research plot to engage and educate transitioning farmers.*
“Innovative farmers are working to improve air and water quality across the country, and what we’re doing with cover cropping and no-till is really working.”
